Lewiston, Maine (December 9, 2013) – New England Fights Mixed Martial Arts (NEF MMA) today announced the addition of a professional welterweight contest to the fight promotion’s February 8, 2014 card. The event, entitled “NEF XII,” will take place at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston and will feature UFC-veteran and Maine MMA legend Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis (22-10) against Young’s MMA standout “THE” Ryan Sanders (5-4).

Tacoma, WA (December 8th, 2013) – CageSport MMA returned to the Emerald Queen Casino on Saturday night, highlighted with a main event featuring top Northwest middleweight fighters, Brent Knopp and Cory Devela going at it for the CageSport middleweight championship. Ten fights took place throughout CageSport XXVIII including a featured women’s bout where Amy Cadwell was able to improve her record to 3-0 with a first round victory over Jessica Doerner (5-3) via rear naked choke.

With a nine-fight winning streak to his credit, Georgi Karakhanyan is the World Series of Fighting’s first-ever featherweight champion.
Karakhanyan earned the belt with a slick, third-round submission of previously undefeated contender Lance Palmer in the main event of Saturday’s “World Series of Fighting 7: Karakhanyan vs. Palmer” event, which took place at PNE Agrodome in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The night’s main card aired on NBCSN.
Karakhanyan came out looking to strike, firing off high kicks from range. He also showed some impressive early takedown defense. As Palmer settled in to strike, he reached out with a right hand that saw his open fingers scrape Karakhanyan’s left eye. Barb Honchak won a hard-fought, unanimous decision victory to retain the Invicta FC Flyweight World Championship over challenger Leslie Smith in Saturday’s Invicta Fighting Championships 7 at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo.
Honchak (9-2) and Smith (6-4-1) traded blows in the all-action bout, but it was Honchak’s technical striking and ability to take Smith to the ground and inflict damage that was the difference. All three judges scored the bout 49-46. Read the rest of this entry »
Rumford, Maine (December 7, 2013) – New England Fights Mixed Martial Arts (NEF MMA) is proud to announce that former NEF fighter Matt DesRoches (4-0) was recently announced as a cast member of The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) famed “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series “TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia.” UFC officials announced DesRoches as a member of the cast last Thursday.
“TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia” is the newest iteration of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Eight middleweights and eight welterweights will be divided into two teams based on their nationalities. Filmed just north of Montreal, the 12-episode season will air on Wednesdays on Fox Sports 1 starting January 15th and will culminate with a three-hour live finale next year. Invicta Fighting Championships Strawweight contender Claudia Gadelha was forced to withdraw from Saturday’s scheduled title bout against Carla Esparza after contracting a bacterial infection.
“Claudia ran a high fever late Friday evening and went to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a bacterial infection in her intestines,” said Shannon Knapp, President Invicta Fighting Championships. “We know Claudia wanted this title opportunity more than anything and all of us at Invicta wish her a speedy recovery.
