Shamrock Signs Multi-Fight Deal with Strikeforce

Jeff Shamrock, nephew of MMA Legend Ken Shamrock, has signed a multi-fight deal with world championship fight promotion, Strikeforce. Shamrock’s first fight under the San Jose based organization will be announced soon. “I am definitely excited to have Ken Shamrock’s nephew as a part of the Strikeforce team,” said Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker. “Jeff possesses that incredible Shamrock strength that his family is known for. MMA veteran Jason Reinhardt wants Miguel Torres in the WEC

MMA veteran Jason Reinhardt is eyeing Miguel Torres and World Extreme Cagefighting’s 135-pound division. “I’m undefeated at 135 and Miguel Torres is not,” Reinhardt said during a promotional interview for his upcoming Courage Fighting Championships event in Decatur, Illinois. “He’s the best fighter in the world they say, so I would love the chance to compete against him and fight him in the WEC.” Read the rest of this entry »

Why Did Kimbo Choose MMA Over Boxing?

By Rahul Deb: MMA recently got its first exposure on network television when CBS broadcast the EliteXC fight card headlined by none other than internet sensation Kimbo Slice. It was a big step for MMA towards gaining mainstream recognition as a sport and some claim it is a matter of time before MMA passes boxing in popularity. Boxing as we know hasn’t had network tv airtime in many years. I had the pleasure of watching Kimbo Slice pop open the alien ear of James Thompson on route to a highly questionable stoppage. World Championship Fighting 3 provides another knockout show

Boston, MA – Fans once again packed the Shriners Auditorium Friday night for the third installment of World Championship Fighting. The night was filled with action packed fights from start to finish and a special autograph session with UFC Fighters: Marcus “the Irish Hand Grenade” Davis, Kenny “KenFlo” Florian, Jorge “El Conquistador” Rivera, Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon, and Internet Legend Sean “The Gladiator” Gannon the only man to beat Kimbo Slice. The night’s action included UFC veteran Dan “The Upgrade” Lauzon and Brendan Hoxie engaging in a battle that continuously saw Lauzon get the better of the exchanges. Not one for backing down, Hoxie displayed incredible resiliency and was able to endure the punishment being dished out by Lauzon. Lindland Lays Down The Law In And Out Of The Ring

2000 U.S. Olympic Silver Medal Wrestler, Matt “The Law” Lindland would bring the same dogged determination that made him one of the world’s top professional mixed-martial-artists to a job in the Oregon House of Representatives.

The 38-year-old resident of Oregon City may be near the end of his fighting career, but his political life is just beginning. Recently winning the Republican nomination for House District 52 in Oregon, Lindland received 58-percent of the votes in the primary and has begun his campaign for the general election in the fall.
