Tecumseh, Michigan, kickboxer Katelyn Dykas will go for her first MMA title against her toughest opponent to date this Saturday, November 2, 2013, when she takes on Flint’s Angie Jennings.
The pair will meet for the Impact Fight League Women’s Flyweight Championship in one of the featured bouts at the Donofrio Entertainment and Impact Fight League (in association with the Fillmore Detroit) IFL 58 “Brawl in the Fall” mixed martial arts event at the Fillmore Detroit.
Tickets for IFL 58 “Brawl in the Fall” are priced at $100.00 VIP, $25 Mezzanine, $35 Sections B & C and $15.00 General Admission. General Admission seats are available by calling (248) 770-6000. Q- How long have you been fighting?
KD- I started fighting when I was 18, my freshman year of college
Q- What made you start fighting?
KD- I loved playing sports throughout high school and always wanted to challenge myself. That’s when I found this sport.
Q- What would a victory on Nov. 2nd mean for you?
KD- Winning this belt will mean that I’m headed in the right direction of what I want to accomplish. Getting closer to my goals of being a professional fighter.
Q- What are your goals as a MMA fighter?
KD- As a whole I want to become a professional and fight in the UFC one day.
Q- Where do you train?
KD- I currently train at The Training Compound for MMA and the Institute of Mixed Martial Arts for kickboxing.
Q- What do you have outside of MMA?
I’m in my fourth year of college and have been on the dean’s list throughout college. I obtained my EMT license and work as an EMT where I’m from.
Q- What’s one thing about you, that impresses you the most?
KD- That I’m able to find a balance between training and college and remain successful at both.
