Additional Tickets On Sale For EliteXC’s Show Saturday At BankAtlantic Center
Due to an overwhelming demand for tickets, more seats and sections were released today for the eagerly anticipated EliteXC fight card, dubbed HEAT, this Saturday, Oct. 4, at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. “We’re pleased to announce that we have just opened up some sections and made more $30 tickets available,’’ said Jeremy Lappen, Head of Fight Operations for EliteXC. “Not that we didn’t expect it, but the response to this fight card has been amazing. Reis Outpoints Cullum To Win EliteXC Belt
SANTA YNEZ, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2008) – In an excellent, competitive matchup between skilled, determined, well-conditioned fighters, unbeaten Brazilian Wilson Reis (6-0) of Philadelphia registered a close, unanimous five-round decision over Abel Cullum (11-2) of Tucumcari, N.M., to capture the first-ever EliteXC bantamweight title Friday in the main event on ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series.

Arlovski and Nelson added to CBS Telecast
CBS, EliteXC, and Trump’s Affliction Entertainment jointly announced today that a fifth fight has been added to the lineup for CBS ELITEXC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS on Saturday, Oct. 4 featuring top-ranked MMA heavyweights Andrei Arlovski against the last reigning IFL heavyweight champion Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Arlovski, who was originally slated to fight in the main event of the Oct. 11 Affliction card, is the No. 4 ranked heavyweight in the world, according to MMAWEEKLY.com. A native of Belarus, Arlovski was last seen ending Ben Rothwell’s 13-fight winning streak during the inaugural “Affliction Banned” show, which was held on July 19, 2008. KJ Noons Stripped Of EliteXC Lightweight Title
KJ Noons of San Diego has been stripped of his EliteXC lightweight title. The announcement was made late Friday by EliteXC Head of Fight Operations, Jeremy Lappen. The foremost reason EliteXC is taking this action, Lappen said, was due to Noons’ reluctance to defend against leading 160-pound contender Nick Diaz of Stockton, Calif. Read the rest of this entry »

However, questions are already being raised regarding the competency of the forty-four year old Shamrock who has lost seven of his last eight fights, including five by first round stoppages. EliteXC’s Jeremy Lappen Responds To Silva Situation
The California State Athletic Commission announced Thursday morning it had suspended Antonio Silva for 12 months and fined him $2,500 for testing positive for the banned anabolic substance Boldenone after a fight on July 26 in Stockton.
Shortly thereafter, Silva’s co-manager Alex Davis issued a statement claiming not only that his fighter was clean but that he had no idea how Silva could have tested positive. Read the rest of this entry »
