UFC 100: Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesner
By Christopher Salute – Frank Mir is, without a doubt, one of the best heavyweights of the decade. After a grueling comeback from his knee injury and beating opponents like Antônio Nogueira and Tim Sylvia, Mir has become a “who’s who” in the sport. He’s got exceptional Jiu-Jitsu skills and his striking has become so accurate, it’s scary. Let’s not forget how great of a fighter Mir was before his tragic motorcycle accident. He was the champ and he never lost his belt in a fight. He was unable to compete. If Mir never hurt his knee in a non-sports related injury, we may have never seen Brock Lesner with a belt around his waist.
But, that’s not the way it all happened. Brock Lesner faced Frank Mir, once already. Many viewers would say that Mir “got lucky” in his defeat of Lesner. Frank Mir has returned to the great fighter that he was and is a seriously dangerous fighter. And, there is no luck when you’re as skilled at BJJ as Mir is. He knows how to inflict pain from any position with over 1000 different holds, pulls, and chokes at his disposal. Mir didn’t get lucky. He took advantage of an opportunity. Noguiera And Frank Mir Announced As TUF 8 Coaches
The coaches for season eight of Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter,” the most successful original series in network history, will feature two of the UFC’s all-time top heavyweights. Interim UFC heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, will star in the new season featuring light heavyweights (205 lbs) and lightweights (155 lbs) premiering Wednesday, September 17 at 10:00pm ET/PT.
