Lauzon Hopes To Appear At UFC Debut In Boston

Despite losing a decision January 2 to Sam Stout, popular lightweight Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (18-5, 5 [T]KOs, 13 submissions) hopes that his next fight will be this August in UFC’s debut in Boston.

Lauzon, a native of E. Bridgewater (MA), would certainly be a hometown favorite fighting at the Boston Garden. “We’ll see how it goes but I certainly want to fight at home in Boston,” Lauzon said. “I’d like to fight before that, where my fight against Stout was my first in 10 months, but not if it risks fighting in Boston this August.” Read the rest of this entry »

UFC 108: Joe Lauzon Back In Action

Exciting UFC lightweight contender Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (18-4, 5 [T]KOs, 13 submissions), only 10 months after undergoing knee surgery to repair his ACL, enters the Octagon once again Saturday night to fight Canadian veteran Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout (14-5-1, 8 [T]KOs, 1 submission) on the UFC 108 pay-per-view show, live from MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Lauzon (5-1 in UFC), star of The Ultimate Fighter 5 television reality show, is a 25-year-old from Massachusetts, who has a computer networking degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Joe Lauzon recovery report

More than five weeks after knee surgery, UFC lightweight prospect Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (18-4, 5 KOs, 13 submissions is rehabilitating his leg, and recovery is ahead of schedule. Lauzon had ACL surgery and his meniscus repaired on his right knee March 6. “Everything went as scheduled,” he reported. “My meniscus was repaired and the ACL cadaver grafting was successful. My doctor was very happy and optimistic that my knee will be strong. Right now, I’m walking around like a normal person; no training but I’m doing some light jogging, leg presses and squats. I’m going to lose muscle in the leg. Range of motion is the key right now. I can completely straighten my leg. I can bend it 135 degrees and 150 is normal.” Read the rest of this entry »

Lauzon (17-4, 5 KOs, 12 submissions), star of The Ultimate Fighter 5 television reality show, learned only one day earlier (Wednesday) that Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens (14-3, 10 KOs, 2 submissions) had replaced Joe’s original opponent, Hermes Franca (20-7), who suffered a knee injury (torn ACL) in training camp. Lauzon ready for Bradley in UFC Fight Night 15

UFC lightweight contender Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon broke from his native Massachusetts training camp Saturday and headed for Nebraska, where he fights Kyle Bradley (13-5) on Wednesday night (September 17) in UFC Fight Night 15, live from Omaha on Spike TV.

“Training camp was very, very good,” Lauzon said. “This summer, I built a cage in my school (Lauzon MMA), and I’m happy with the way things went. I worked harder for this fight than any other. When I was training with BJ Penn in Hawaii, it was a little tougher to coordinate training partners whereas back home I had 6 to 8 guys jumping up to help every training session. It’s always easier to round up your own guys in your own gym.
